Hi, I'm Ian.
A Texan who knows tech.
Not a tech bro who moved to Texas. Not a faceless agency with a Dallas P.O. box. I'm the one writing the code, answering your emails, and staying up late to make sure your site is ready.
I started Heart of Texas Digital because I kept seeing the same thing: local business owners with great products, great service, and terrible — or completely nonexistent — websites. The plumber who's been in business 20 years but Google doesn't know he exists. The restaurant owner who's losing customers to a chain because the chain has a real online presence and she doesn't.
The advice they were getting? "Hire a web agency." The quotes they were getting? $8,000. $12,000. Months of back-and-forth. 50% deposits before seeing a single design. It was insane.
So I decided to be the alternative. A real person with real skills who charges a fair price, talks like a human, and stands behind the work.
The Texas Handshake Guarantee came from that same frustration. Why should you risk your money on something you haven't seen? You wouldn't pay for a meal before tasting it. I build the site first, show it to you, and you only pay when you're happy. It's how business should work.
I focus on central Texas — Waco, Temple, Killeen, and everything in between — because that's the market I understand. But I work with businesses all over Texas and beyond when it's a good fit. If you're running a legitimate business and need a real web presence, I want to talk.
What I Actually Believe About Web Design.
A website is a business tool, not a decoration.
If your site isn't generating calls, inquiries, or sales — it's costing you money by existing. Every design decision should serve a business purpose.
Speed isn't optional — it's the first impression.
Slow sites lose customers before they even see your product. I optimize for performance the same way I optimize for design — it's not a bonus feature.
Plain language wins every time.
Your customers aren't reading your website — they're scanning it. Clear, direct copy that says exactly what you do and why it matters beats clever every time.
Local SEO is table stakes, not a premium add-on.
If you serve a specific city or region, your website needs to tell Google that — explicitly and consistently. It should be built in from day one, not bolted on later.
You should own your website completely.
Proprietary page builders and platform lock-in are how agencies stay indispensable. I build sites you can take anywhere — because the relationship should earn your loyalty, not trap it.
A handshake still means something.
I do what I say I'm going to do, on the timeline I commit to, for the price I quoted. If something changes, I tell you first — not after the invoice arrives.
